My Favorite Three Year Old

Just like each year before, this one has been a fun adventure.  You are have quite the vocabulary and are able to have full conversations with us.  People are always very impressed by the words you can say and use correctly.  You are still a very active boy and will play with your toys independently for periods of time.  You do like us to be near you and to talk to you.  As the year went on, your imagination also grew!  It has been fun to watch you play with your toys.

This summer it became apparent to both your daddy and I that you were no longer a baby and were a little boy.  You lost all signs of baby fat and matured so much.  Right around your birthday, you started climbing out of your crib.  We took the side of your bed off and you now sleep in a toddler bed.  Once the novelty of this wore off, it hasn’t been a problem. 

Some of the things I want to remember are:

• You would say “hold you” when you wanted to be held.  By this spring that had changed to “hold me”
• You love to say “talk about __”  and then you want me to ask or answer certain questions.  For example I might ask about your day and when we are finished you will say “talk about my day again mom.”  We then go through the conversation again!
• You call light switches – light flickers
• If you are near the stove you will say “it’s hotting me” and if you are near a fan and it is cold you will say “it’s colding me.”

What do you like to play outside?  I like to cut the grass

What is your favorite book?  10 Little Dinosaurs

What makes you sad?  When we have to go to time out

What makes you happy?  Being happy is good

What do you want to be when you grow up?  Growing up is when I get bigger and bigger.  Mommy had to give choices and he said Builder.
